Global ESG is in full swing. The "Civil Society and Local Governance Research Center" of the Academy of Social Sciences and the "Taiwan Institute for Social Impact" will hold the "Social Impact Workshop" in the spring of 2023 to communicate with professionals from all walks of life. , explore how to evaluate the social impact brought by the implementation of various SDGs/ESG plans by the public and private sectors.

The workshop on February 18 was hosted by Jiang Mingxiu, Distinguished Professor of the Department of Public Finance, with introductions by Wu Jiayuan, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute of Social Impact, Huang Bingxi, CEO of Zyxel Foundation, Zhu Zhuyuan, Chairman of Youledi Sustainability Services, and Yang Sheng Charitable Foundation. First, Jiang Mingxiu proposed the academic framework on "the concept of social influence", and then Wu Jiayuan shared "How to quantify social influence through the Social Return on Investment (SROI) performance management mechanism", "Taiwan's public and private entities Wu Jiayuan has lectured on topics such as "How to integrate various ESG projects carried out with international standards", etc. He has a major in finance and has served as the chairman of EasyCard Holdings, an independent director in the banking industry, and the managing director of a construction company. In recent years, it has actively introduced social impact assessment methods and participated in the preparation and establishment of the Global Sustainable Development Goals Impact (SDGs Impact).

Wu Jiayuan hoped to let the world see Taiwan by integrating it with the international evaluation mechanism, and has held the "International Symposium on Social Value" for three consecutive years since 2019, inviting members of the private sector, civil society, and public sectors around the world to share their experiences and Practical cases. As of the end of 2022, Taiwan's public and private entities have used the SROI performance management mechanism and have issued 29 SROI reports certified by the British Social Value International (Social Value International). The number is second only to the United Kingdom and ranks first in Asia.

In his closing remarks, Jiang Mingxiu summarized the key points of the exchange and discussion, pointing out that Taiwan's development depends on the influence of the public and private sectors on society. He hopes that through the SROI evaluation mechanism, public and private sector organizations can better understand their impact on society when conducting ESG projects. positive influence.
